SC Sand up next

VfL Women travel to SC Sand on Wednesday evening in a fixture that has been postponed twice  due to positive Covid cases in the Sand squad. Ahead of the game, head coach Tommy Stroot answered questions on…

…personnel: “Sveindis Jonsdottir, who we took off at the break against Köln, is still feeling tightness in her thigh. She won’t be involved against Sand, but our goal is to get her back on the pitch as soon as possible. As for Almuth Schult, we’re waiting every day for a negative test result so we can get her back in training. Lena Oberdorf is fit again, although we’ll have to see how much time she gets on the pitch. Katarzyna Kiedrzynek has been finding her rhythm with the U20s, but we’ve come to a mutual agreement that she won’t be involved against Sand.”

…SC Sand: “Their last two victories had been coming – both in terms of the quality of their play, but also in terms of how they approached the game against Bayern Munich. We’ve followed their last two games very closely, we know we’ll be facing a very confident SC Sand side and we know we’ll have to find a way past them. There’ll definitely be an energy to the game.”

…the task facing VfL: “Sand might well take a few more risks because they’re not necessarily expecting any points against Bayern or ourselves. We’ll have to see how Sand put us under pressure and then find our own spaces.”
