Women

VfL remain on course

She-Wolves earn 4-0 away win at Turbine Potsdam.

VfL Wolfsburg Women registered a commanding victory in their last away game of the season, beating relegated side Turbine Potsdam 4-0. Vivian Endemann (36’), Justine Kielland (47’), Lena Lattwein (68’) and Tabea Sellner (90’+3) scored the goals in front of 2,394 spectators at the Karl-Liebknecht-Stadion as the Green-and-Whites cemented second place in the standings.

The She-Wolves’ next and final league game of 2024/25 is on Sunday 11 May at home to Bayer Leverkusen at the AOK Stadion (kick-off 14:00 CEST).

Goals

  • 0-1 Endemann (36’): The opener – and it’s been a long time coming! VfL have had countless attacks, but this time Ella Peddemors plays the ball through for Endemann, who leaves goalkeeper Vanessa Fischer no chance with a powerful drive into the corner.

  • 0-2 Kielland (47’): Potsdam’s new keeper Silia Plöchinger has only been on the field a matter of seconds before she has to pick the ball out of her net. Kielland receives the ball on the edge of the box, outfoxes a defender and shoots, with her effort taking a slight deflection on its way into the bottom right-hand corner.

  • 0-3 Lattwein (68’): Potsdam can’t cope with the pace of a VfL attack. Jule Brand tees up Lattwein, on as a substitute, and she fires in under the goalkeeper’s legs from a tight angle.

  • 0-4 Sellner (90’+3): The icing on the cake! Luca Papp spreads the play out to Lynn Wilms, whose cross ends up in the net. As Sellner gets a slight touch on it, she is awarded the goal.

Reaction

Sabrina Eckhoff: “We knew we would have a lot of the ball in this game, and we used it well. Potsdam were strong in the tackle, so overall I’m satisfied with the way we solved this task.”
