Another defeat

The Wolves lost 4-0 at Borussia Dortmund.

VfL Wolfsburg again came away empty-handed on Bundesliga Matchday 32. Head coach Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side went down 4-0 to Champions League quarter-finalists Borussia Dortmund, with Serhou Guirassy (3’, 59’) and Karim Adeyemi (69’, 73’) both netting braces in front of a crowd of 81,365 at Signal Iduna Park. VfL remain in 12th place in the table.

The Wolves have the next opportunity to end their winless run, which now stands at eight games, on Friday 9 May (kick-off 20:30 CEST), when TSG Hoffenheim visit the Volkswagen Arena in the last home match of the season.

GOALS

  • 1-0 Guirassy (3’): An early blow as Niklas Süle’s pass through the middle catches out the VfL defence. The ball suddenly comes to Guirassy and he doesn’t pass up the glorious opportunity from a central position 11 metres from goal.

  • 2-0 Guirassy (59’): The situation doesn’t appear dangerous for the Green-and-Whites but the way Dortmund are allowed to score is just too simple. After Pascal Groß’s turn on the byline, Guirassy is unmarked in the centre of the penalty area and only has to stick his foot out to turn the cross in.

  • 3-0 Adeyemi (69’): Again it’s too easy for BVB. After a turnover in midfield, substitute Adeyemi picks up the ball, wriggles past several VfL defenders and leaves VfL goalkeeper Kamil Grabara no chance one-on-one.

  • 4-0 Adeyemi (73’): Adeyemi again picks up the pace on the edge of the area, creates a gap for himself to shoot and finds the far corner to make it 4-0.
