VfL Wolfsburg Women remain comfortable leaders in the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga, but it is goal difference alone that is keeping them in pole position in UEFA Women’s Champions League Group B.

That could all change on Thursday 8 December when the She-Wolves take on closest pursuers AS Roma (kick-off at 18:45 CET/live on DAZN). Victory over the Serie A leaders would put the Green-and-Whites firmly on course to reach the quarter-finals as section winners. Ahead of the game head coach Tommy Stroot discussed…

…team news: “Sara Agrez is still absent due to her ongoing back complaints. She won’t return to action before the winter break. Everyone else is available and in the squad.”

…lessons learned from the reverse fixture: “We did a lot of things very well. We found the right spaces, which wasn’t easy at all for a variety of reasons, including the state of the pitch. At the same time we also saw in Rome just how important little details can be, in terms of consistency and execution. If we do what we did in our last games against Köln and Frankfurt then I’m sure we’ll leave the pitch as winners.”

…the situation in the group: “Earning a 1-1 draw away from home is a good result in European competition as it sets you up well for the return leg. At the same time, however, from a coach’s point of view you need to be smart and consider that we have the better goal difference and what sort of role that might play. You need to have those things in mind, although it doesn’t change the fact that we want to beat Roma in the head-to-head.”
