Women's football Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg can rely on the services of first choice goalkeeper Almuth Schult for the next four years: The 27-year-old has extended her current contract, which was valid until 2019, until 2022. "I and delighted to continue wearing the Green-White jersey. I was born in Lower Saxony and I am very closely connected with my home region. For me, there is no better club than VfL - which is led in a very professional and success-oriented manner. The conditions here are top-notch, I have fantastic colleagues and I am challenged in every single training session. Absolutely everything suits me," explained the World Female Goalkeeper from 2014.

"Hunger for titles not satisfied"

The 49-time German international made the move to the Lady-Wolves from SC 13 Bad Neuenahr in 2013 and has since then made a total of 134 Bundesliga, 32 UEFA Women´s Champions League and DFB-Cup appearances for the Green-Whites. In that time, the keeper has also gathered an impressive haul of titles: two German championships (2014 and 2017), three DFB-Cup wins (2015, 2016 and 2017) and one Champions League success (2014) with VfL Wolfsburg, as well as claiming Olympic gold with the DFB women in 2016 in Brazil. "With VfL, I have celebrated great success at club level and I want to continue in that vein. We are playing here to win titles and my hunger for titles has not been satisfied. I want to extend my collection further in the coming years," explained Schult.

Those responsible at the club are particularly pleased about the extension to the immensely successful collaboration between the VfL women and Almuth Schult. "We are very happy that Germany's number one and one of the best female goalkeepers in the world has decided she wants to continue wearing the VfL colours on into the future," explained Ralf Kellermann, Sporting director of women's football at VfL.
