Matchday 16 of the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga could prove to be a crucial one as far as the title race is concerned. It all boils down to this: whoever leads the way after the top-of-the-table clash between Bayern Munich and VfL Wolfsburg (Saturday 25 March, kick-off 17:55 CET) at a sold-out FC Bayern Campus will have their fate resting in their own hands. The She-Wolves head into the weekend’s crunch encounter with a two-point lead over their major rivals – and with the wind in their sails following the 1-0 win at Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Women’s Champions League in midweek. At the press conference before the game, head coach Tommy Stroot spoke to the media about...

…personnel: “We expect all players to be available for the trip to Munich.”

…the importance of the game: “We’re incredibly excited about this match – it’s the biggest game in Germany, after all. We know about our opponents’ qualities and I have to say that Bayern haven’t done much wrong so far this season. I’m expecting the game to be played at the highest level and for everything to come down to details, just like it did in Paris. We want to make sure those details prove decisive for us.”

…Bayern’s longer recovery period: “It’s part and parcel of things and we were aware of the circumstances. It shouldn’t have any bearing at this stage. We’re capable of giving our all every three days with this group of players. We want to show that again on Saturday, so it shouldn’t be a factor that one team have had an extra day’s rest.”
