Huth extends contract

The She-Wolves captain is set to stay at Wolfsburg until 2026.

Svenja Huth is adding at least another year to her time at VfL Wolfsburg, with the 33-year-old, who is co-captain of the She-Wolves along with Alexandra Popp, extending her contract that was due to expire at the end of this season through to 30 June 2026. Huth is the third key player, after Popp and Lena Lattwein, who has committed her future to the Green-and-Whites. Huth joined the club in 2019 from 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam and has since gone on to make 105 appearances for VfL in the Womenā€™s Bundesliga, 42 in the UEFA Womenā€™s Champions League and 22 in the DFB Cup. During her time with the She-Wolves, she has won two German league titles and five DFB Cups.

ā€œFeeling highly motivatedā€

ā€œI feel so at home at VfL Wolfsburg and Iā€™m proud to continue to be part of this team,ā€ Huth said. ā€œI very much appreciate how we work with the coaching and backroom staff on a daily basis, as well as how the VfL management made me feel trusted and valued in the conversations that weā€™ve had. We all know how quickly things can change in terms of the competition in football, both in Germany and on the international stage. Iā€™m convinced that VfL will be doing everything they can to face this challenge and to continue in the same successful vein as in recent years. Iā€™m feeling highly motivated and looking forward to using my experience to help the club on and off the pitch.ā€

ā€œSpine of our teamā€

ā€œWe are extraordinarily pleased with the fact that after ā€˜Poppiā€™, Svenja has also put pen to paper on an extension, meaning that we can make plans around both of our captains beyond the end of the season,ā€ said Ralf Kellermann, director of womenā€™s football at VfL Wolfsburg. ā€œOn the pitch, Svenja is part of the spine of our team, while off it, sheā€™s a model professional and a leader, making her a key element when it comes to team spirit. In terms of how we are looking to shape our squad, it sends out a great signal that such an important figure in German womenā€™s football is going to be wearing green and white at least through to 2026.ā€
