Contract terminated

Oliver Glasner leaves for Eintracht Frankfurt.

VfL Wolfsburg and coach Oliver Glasner have agreed to an early termination of his contract, which was originally valid until 2022. The Austrian, who joined the Wolves from LASK in 2019, approached the club management with his wish to move to Eintracht Frankfurt for the new season. “We agreed to this and terminated the contract. We thank Oliver Glasner for two successful years and wish him all the best,” confirmed VfL managing director Jörg Schmadtke. The two clubs have agreed not to disclose the value of the compensation payment.

“This was not an easy decision for me because I’ve enjoyed working with this team very much,” stressed Glasner. “However, I feel that it’s time for a new challenge. I wish VfL Wolfsburg continued success.”

The club will announce in due course who is going to succeed the 46-year-old as head coach. Along with Glasner, his two assistants Michael Angerschmid and Thomas Sageder are also leaving Wolfsburg. Angerschmid is heading to Frankfurt with Glasner, while Sageder’s destination is unknown.
