Final say

Facts and figures after the game against 1. FC Union Berlin.

Despite a passionate performance against 1. FC Union Berlin on Saturday, VfL Wolfsburg remained without a win in their fifth league assignment of 2024 after slipping to a 1-0 defeat.

Lacroix milestone

Maxence Lacroix reached a significant landmark when he took to the pitch at the Alte Försterei stadium at the weekend, making his 100th Bundesliga appearance. The 23-year-old joined Wolfsburg at the start of the 2020/21 campaign and has been a cornerstone of the rearguard ever since.

New club record

Lacroix also set a new club record in the German capital after being clocked at 36.13 km/h. Only two players have been quicker in the current Bundesliga season: Heidenheim’s Eren Dinkci (36.41 km/h) and VfB Stuttgart’s Silas (36.15 km/h).

Man of the Match

The game was hardly an attacking festival, but any time the Wolves got close to Frederik Rönnow’s goal, Lovro Majer was invariably involved. VfL fans voted the Croatia international as Man of the Match with 35 percent of the ballot. Captain Maximilian Arnold (27 percent) and Joakim Maehle (eight percent) also ended up on the podium.
