VfL Wolfsburg set up the Wolves e-Academy last year, signing three young talents in the process. One of those was Benedikt Bauer, who came on in leaps and bounds over the course of the FIFA19 season, qualifying for two FUT Champions Cups and coming within a hair’s breadth of taking part in the play-offs for the eWorld Cup. The 19-year-old from Drachselsried in Bavaria is now set to join the e-Sport team alongside Benedikt Saltzer and co. and become the fourth e-Sport pro to wear the green and white.

"I’m delighted that VfL has so much confidence in me and is giving me this chance," said Bauer. "The hard work of last year has paid off and now I hope to carry on improving my performances over the coming season." As well as getting a new contract, Bauer will also be moving to set up home in Salzgitter, so that he can attend the Ostfalia School of Applied Sciences where he will study sports management.

There is another change in the line-up at the Wolves e-Academy, with Julius Kühle leaving VfL Wolfsburg to join a new club. Both Kühle and Riad Fazlija, who has extended his contract with the youth section of the Wolves for another year, established themselves last season among the most exciting talents on the e-Sports scene.
