Wolves clip Eagles’ wings

VfL completed their visit to China with a 7-5 win over Eintracht Frankfurt after a penalty shoot-out.

VfL Wolfsburg brought their trip to China to a successful conclusion with a 7-5 win over Eintracht Frankfurt (3-3, 4-2 on penalties). Yannick Gerhardt (15’), Elvis Rexhbecaj (21’) and Ismail Azzaoui (43’) were on the scoresheet for the Green-Whites during the regulation 90 minutes in Foshan, while the Europa League semi-finalists from Hessen replied through Jetro Willems (13’), Almamy Toure (45’+2) and Luka Jovic (80’). The match then went straight to penalties, with VfL keeper Pavao Pervan pulling off two crucial saves before Felix Klaus scored the winner from the spot.
