Word is out! On Tuesday morning at 7 am, over 100 Wolfsburgers were called upon to be official ambassadors for the new Wolves shirt for the 2019/2020 season. A wide assortment of local people were involved, ranging from a bus driver to the mayor of Wolfsburg. The whole city is now decked out in VfL colours.
Grizzlys, VfL women’s team, Theis and Wojcicki in the new VfL kit
Born-and-bred VfL fan and NBA basketball star Daniel Theis (Boston Celtics) wore the new Nike-supplied jersey at his morning training session. German pro ice hockey league team Grizzlys and boxing champion Patrick Wojcicki followed suit, and then VfL league winners Sara Gunnarsdottir, Pernille Harder and Claudio Neto decided to get in on the act, marking the fact that this year Nike is also producing a special women’s design of the VfL shirt.
The Wolves’ home shirt, courtesy of equipment supplier Nike, looks very similar at first glance to last season’s successful jersey. The bright green "X" has the hallmarks of a laser beam, encapsulating the power and precision of German engineering and thus tying in perfectly with VfL’s partner Volkswagen.
