Wolf tracks on Wednesday

Variety in training / Green-and-White support in Portugal / VfL fined.

Training drills: Having showcased their football-tennis skills on Tuesday, it was back to business on the training pitch on Wednesday. After working up a sweat in a variety of warm-up exercises, a number of different training drills were on the agenda for Niko Kovac’s troops – including one which focused on defending while under heavy pressure from the opposition.

Green-and-White support:  Nineteen fans have travelled to Portugal to support the Wolves, including two from Switzerland. Since 2012, supporters have participated in an annual tradition – the first swim of the year – but this has had to be cancelled on this occasion due to strong waves on the south coast of the country. One can only hope this isn’t a bad omen! After the men’s training session on Thursday, the fans will travel just under 50 kilometres to visit the women’s team, who arrived at their training camp at the Robinson Quinta da Ria resort on Wednesday.

Wolves fined: VfL Wolfsburg has been fined 2,000 euros by the German Football Association (DFB) following unsportsmanlike conduct by its own supporters. Spectators in the north stand of the Volkswagen Arena set off two pyrotechnic devices shortly before the Bundesliga Matchday 10 meeting with Borussia Mönchengladbach.
