VfL Wolfsburg Women earned a 3-1 away win over SV Werder Bremen in their last Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga match of the calendar year in a fixture that also marked the start of the second half of the season. The result sets the stage for the Green-and-Whites’ final game of 2024 on Tuesday, when they travel to Olympique Lyon in the UEFA Women’s Champions League (kick-off 21:00 CET). After a lively opening in Bremen, in which Lineth Beerensteyn struck twice, the tempo of the game dropped off somewhat. In the second half, a dominant VfL side sealed the points thanks to a goal from Jule Brand.

1-3 Brand (55’): Brand makes space for herself to get on the end of a corner from Svenja Huth and nods in VfL’s third goal.

It probably wasn’t our best game but the most important thing is that we picked up all three points in our last league match of 2024, and deservedly so.”
