The She-Wolves landed in glorious sunshine around midday in Portugal, where Tommy Stroot’s team will spend the next ten days in Almancil preparing for their upcoming games in 2024. A light training session followed in the afternoon. “We want to get back into our rhythm and take steps forward at the same time,” said the head coach of the objectives for the coming days.

Friendly matches to be streamed free

The Green-and-Whites will play two friendlies during their camp: On Tuesday 9 January they will meet TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (kick-off 15:30 local time) before taking on Ajax four days later on Saturday 13 January (kick-off 15:00 local time). Wölfe TV will broadcast both matches live on YouTube free of charge.

Three U20 players in the squad

VfL have travelled to the Algarve with a 26-strong squad, including three players from the U20s in Mira Arouna, Karla Brinkmann and Sury Lamontana. However, Tabea Sellner, who is due to give birth this year, has remained in Wolfsburg. Furthermore, Lena Oberdorf (ill) and Felicitas Rauch were unable to fly to Portugal on Saturday, but they may join up with the team at a later date.
