VfL Wolfsburg Women enjoyed a successful competitive start to 2025 on Monday evening with a commanding display in a 3-0 victory over FC Carl Zeiss Jena at the AOK Stadion. The Green-and-Whites justified their tag as favourites and seized control of the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga Matchday 13 encounter right from the start. An effort from Lineth Beerensteyn (18’) and a Jenas Felicia Sträßer own goal (20’) put the hosts 2-0 up at the interval. Janina Minge added a third in the second half (66’) and although the team created several more clear-cut opportunities, they were unable to find the net again. Tommy Stroot’s side only have a short time to recover as they are away to 1. FC Köln in league action on Friday (kick-off 18:30 CET).
Goals
- 1-0 Beerensteyn (18’): Svenja Huth delivers a free-kick high into the box. Minge redirects the ball towards the ball goalwards and Beerensteyn is well placed to prod over the line.
- 2-0 Sträßer (o.g. 20’): A quickfire double! A Huth corner is deflected into her own net by Sträßer.
- 3-0 Minge (66’): Another goal from a Huth set piece, with Minge heading in from a free-kick this time.
Tommy Stroot: “At the end of the day it was an authoritative 3-0 win. I’m satisfied and happy with the way we played today.”
