Denis Vavro is staying at VfL Wolfsburg, who have turned the centre-back’s loan move from FC Copenhagen into a permanent deal. The 29-year-old Slovakia international has been handed a contract until 2027 after making 31 competitive appearances for VfL in 2024/25, scoring three goals.
“Fighting spirit and passion”
“Denis’ mentality makes him a hugely important player for us,” said VfL sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz. “He brings tremendous fighting spirit and a great deal of passion to the pitch. He has continued to develop with us and has quickly established himself as a key figure in our defence. As such, we’ve decided to take up the option to sign Denis on a permanent deal. We’re pleased that he’ll continue to be part of our journey in the future.”
“A good environment for me”
“The club has placed a great deal of trust in me from day one,” added Vavro. “In Wolfsburg, I’ve found an environment that is incredibly good for me, both in a sporting sense and on a personal level. I’m therefore all the more pleased to continue to wear the VfL shirt in the future. I’ll continue to give my all to help the team and achieve our goals in the coming season.”
