VfL Wolfsburg have completed their second signing of the current transfer window by bringing in Mads Roerslev from Premier League club FC Brentford. The 25-year-old right-back, who will wear the number five jersey for the Green-and-Whites, arrives on an initial loan until the end of the 2024/25 season.
“In Mads we’re gaining a versatile, superbly trained defender who has a lot of experience for his age and who is still not at the end of his development,” said VfL sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz. “We’re very pleased that we were able to convince him to join VfL.”
“I can hardly wait to play in this magnificent stadium”
After taking a look around the club complex and having a peek inside the Volkswagen Arena, the newcomer could not hide his delight: “I’m very happy to be here. VfL Wolfsburg are a very good club and I like the way the team plays. I’m pleased to be a part of that now and I can hardly wait to play in this magnificent stadium.”
Top-flight experience in Denmark, Sweden and England
Roerslev was born in the Danish capital and rose through the FC Copenhagen youth ranks before making his professional debut at the age of 17. After spells in Sweden and Denmark, he signed for Brentford in August 2019 and helped the Bees gain promotion to the Premier League in 2021.
He represented Denmark at every youth level from the U17s to the U21s, and earned his first senior cap in November 2024, playing the full 90 minutes of a 0-0 draw against Serbia in the UEFA Nations League.
