VfL cruise into next round

VfL Wolfsburg Women are through to the DFB Cup quarter-finals after beating 1. FC Nürnberg 6-0.

Die Frauen vom VfL Wolfsburg jubeln nach einem Tor.

The sizeable crowd of 17,302 at the Max-Morlock-Stadion was worthy of the DFB Cup final itself – a game which nine-time winners VfL Wolfsburg Women are one step closer to participating in after beating second-tier 1. FC Nürnberg 6-0. Jill Roord scored twice, with further strikes from Ewa Pajor, Sveindis Jonsdottir and Pauline Bremer as well as an own goal from Anne Führlein completing a comfortable victory.

The She-Wolves are back on the road on Tuesday, when they travel to AS Roma (kick-off 21:00 CET on Wednesday 23 November) looking to take a huge step towards winning their UEFA Women’s Champions League group.

Reaction

VfL head coach Tommy Stroot: “We put in a very mature performance today and were able to claim a comfortable win as a result. We did so in front of a great crowd and we enjoyed that very much. We were very alert from the start and did a lot of things really, really well. All in all, it was a great day for women’s football.”
