It was confirmed back in April that Swiss prodigy Riola Xhemaili would join the She-Wolves on a free transfer ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. In this interview, the 20-year-old talks about her first impressions of VfL and her objectives with the club.
Riola Xhemaili, what are your impressions of Wolfsburg so far?
Riola Xhemaili: “This is my first visit to Wolfsburg. Everyone’s been very accommodating and helping me find my way around here. The whole organisation from the club is very professional, so I‘m really enjoying it so far and I’m happy to be here.”
What do you want to achieve with VfL – personally and with the team?
Riola: “Personally, I want to keep improving my footballing skills here. Just being able to train with such a strong team will help me improve. My aim is to win the league with VfL – winning titles like that is the best. I obviously also want us to be successful in the Champions League in the future.”
Why did you opt for Wolfsburg?
Riola: “VfL got in touch with me at the perfect moment, particularly because I was in a bit of a difficult period at the time from a sporting perspective. The fact that Wolfsburg approached me during that period was a clear sign of their admiration. I knew straight away that I couldn’t say no to a club like VfL.”
