It will be the fourth time that the Wolves’ youth squad will take part in the England-based competition for European youth teams, with the Green-and-Whites’ campaign getting under way on Wednesday 16 October.
At 19:00 local time, co-coach Ton Lokhoff’s U-23 side will meet their counterparts from Spanish top-flight outfit Valencia. The match will be played at the Snows Stadium, which is the home ground of AFC Totton in Hampshire, who ply their trade in the Southern League.
U-17s, U-19s and U-23s set to feature
The U-23 squad is 16-strong and includes Fabio Di Michele Sanchez from the VfL U-17s and no fewer than five U-19s: Tom-Kasper Berger, Jannis Lang, Ole Pohlmann, Marcel Beifus and goalkeeper Sebastian Mellack. Those six will get to play with the U-23s and represent the club on the international stage.
West Ham and Brighton to follow
The Premier League International Cup will start off with 24 clubs involved – 12 from England and another dozen from around Europe. After their opening match, the VfL youth team will go on to play the U-23s from West Ham United on Wednesday 30 October and then Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday 3 December.
