VfL Women beat MSV Duisburg 3-1 in the second round of the DFB Cup.

Holders VfL Wolfsburg have cleared their first hurdle in this season’s DFB Cup, beating second-division MSV Duisburg 3-1 in the final game of the second round. Svenja Huth (43’, 85’) and Lena Oberdorf (44’) were on target for the She-Wolves at the Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena after Savanah Uveges had given the hosts an early lead (20’).

VfL will discover their third-round opponents when the draw takes place at 18:30 CEST on Sunday 3 October. They return to FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga action on Saturday 2 October (13:00 CEST), when they visit SC Freiburg.

VfL head coach Tommy Stroot: “We overcame the challenge and reached the next round – that’s the most important thing. It wasn’t our best game but I have to credit Duisburg, who fought with passion. On the whole, it’s a deserved win that could have been more comfortable.”
