Ten Wolfsburg players have been included in the Germany squad for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Head coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg named her 23-strong squad on Saturday, a day after the 3-2 defeat to Zambia in their final official friendly before the tournament.
Germany’s VfL contingent
Merle Frohms, Marina Hegering, Kathrin Hendrich, Felicitas Rauch, Jule Brand, Svenja Huth, Lena Lattwein, Lena Oberdorf, Alexandra Popp and new She-Wolves signing Chantal Hagel are the ten VfL players selected by Voss-Tecklenburg. Striker Tabea Sellner, however, has not been included in the final squad.
Other She-Wolves Down Under
In Dominique Janssen and Lynn Wilms, the Netherlands have named two current She-Wolves players in their World Cup squad. Caitlin Dijkstra, who was signed by VfL this summer but has returned to FC Twente on loan for another season, has also been selected. Wolfsburg’s Rebecka Blomqvist is also set to star at the tournament after being named in Sweden’s squad.
