VfL Women won their Bundesliga opener 4-0 against SGS Essen.

Torschützin Ewa Pajor und Jill Roord vom VfL Wolfsburg laufen für eine Umarmung aufeinander zu.

VfL Wolfsburg Women began the new FLYERALARM Women's Bundesliga campaign with a victory after overcoming SGS Essen 4-0 in front of 3,217 fans at the AOK Stadion.

Ewa Pajor struck twice for last season's double winners, with Alexandra Popp and Tabea Waßmuth also on target as the She-Wolves raced to the top of the table.
The Green-and-Whites are next in action on Saturday 24 September (kick-off: 17:55 CEST) away to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim at the PreZero-Arena.

Reaction

Tommy Stroot: "We deserved to win 4-0 but there's still room for improvement, especially in our link-up play in attack. We could have done better with some of our openings and chances, and won by an even bigger scoreline. We've had relatively few training sessions. Last week did us a lot of good. We've taken the first step but we're not yet where we want to be and can be. But we knew that from the outset."
