She-Wolves to begin DFB Cup defence

VfL Women are away to 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam on Sunday in their first cup game of the season.

VfL Wolfsburg Women begin their DFB Cup title defence on Sunday 10 September away to 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam at the Karl-Liebknecht-Stadion (kick-off 14:00 CEST / live on Wölfe TV). At his press conference ahead of the game, as VfL bid to take the first step en route to an 11th cup triumph, head coach Tommy Stroot discussed…

…personnel: “Sara Agrez, Tabea Sellner [who both have muscular issues] and Camilla Küver [rehabilitation] will all be absent. We’re also considering whether or not to take Svenja Huth in light of her personal situation [she is expecting her first child].”
…international players potentially making an appearance: “Obviously we’re currently looking at the topic of increasing their workload. Having said that, it’s a competitive game on Sunday and that’s how we’ll be approaching it. But we’ll probably use our five substitution windows earlier in the game than we usually do. We’ve got a lot of options.”
…the opposition: “Generally speaking, I really enjoy playing them. There’s always a special atmosphere in Potsdam. The game will be played at such a high level and with such great emotionality that we’ll be able to draw conclusions from it for the rest of the season. That’s why I was very happy we were drawn against them. We know that we can decide the match if we go into it with the right energy and the right intensity. I can’t wait for our first competitive game of the season.”
