She-Wolves draw Bordeaux

VfL Women will play at home first in their Champions League round 2 tie.

VfL Wolfsburg Women will begin this year’s UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign with a home match against FC Girondins de Bordeaux. The draw for round 2 of the UWCL was made at midday on Sunday.

Sporting director Ralf Kellermann gave his reaction to the draw: “It’s our first time playing against Bordeaux and we can expect exciting, even contests against the current third-best team in France. We’ve never yet managed to get past a French team in the knockout rounds. It’s time to end that and achieve our major objective of qualifying for the Champions League group stage.”

The first leg will take place in Wolfsburg on 31 August/1 September, with the return leg at Bordeaux, who finished third in Division 1 Féminine last season, being played on 8/9 September.
