Roussillon pledges loyalty

The VfL left-back has signed a one-year contract extension.

The great news keeps coming for Wolfsburg fans as Jerome Roussillon extended his contract by a further year until 30 June 2023. The left-back follows captain Josuha Guilavogui in committing his long-term future to the Green-Whites.

ā€œJerome has adapted to the Bundesliga in a very short space of time and already proven his quality in impressive fashion during his first year,ā€ said VfL sporting director Marcel SchƤfer. ā€œHe’s not reached his peak yet, which makes us all the more delighted that he’s part of our long-term planning.ā€

ā€˜Best place for me to develop’

ā€œI’ve been warmly welcomed by the players, staff and fans here and that’s helped me to feel at home straight away, on and off the pitch,ā€ said Roussillon. ā€œVfL is the best place for me to keep developing and I’m very grateful to the management for putting so much faith in me. We’re on a good track and I’ll do my best to help the team’s continued success.ā€

Roussillon moved to Wolfsburg from HSC Montpellier last summer and has impressed during his maiden season in Germany, particularly with his runs down the wing and accurate passing. The 26-year-old has registered three goals and six assists in 28 games for VfL.
