Kevin Mbabu will be absent when the Wolves return to training on Saturday afternoon after his test for the COVID-19 virus – which was taken on Wednesday – came back positive. All necessary measures have been taken and the 25-year-old Switzerland international is in quarantine at home.
“Kevin doesn’t currently have any symptoms,” said VfL sporting director Marcel Schäfer. “We’ll now wait for things to take their course and we are in close and very good communication with the Wolfsburg health authorities, as we have been over the past months.”
All other results of the two series of tests required prior to the start of training, which were carried out at VfL on Wednesday and Friday, were negative. "In order to reduce the risk of possible infection to a minimum in the event of a case like this, we set the testing times in such a way that players and staff would not meet before the first training session together,” said Schäfer. "Our test system has therefore worked."
