One-year extension

Germany international Tabea Waßmuth has signed an early contract extension through to 2025.

Tabea Waßmuth’s previous VfL Wolfsburg deal was due to expire in 2024, but the Germany international has committed her future to the club by penning an early contract extension through to 30 June 2025. The 25-year-old forward joined VfL from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim before the start of the season and has since made 19 appearances in the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga, as well as four outings in the DFB Cup and 10 in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. She is currently the She-Wolves’ top goalscorer in all competitions with 21 strikes this term, while her UWCL tally of 10 goals is matched only by Barcelona’s Alexia Putellas.

“Highly motivated”

“I’m very happy to have signed an early contract extension with VfL Wolfsburg, where I feel very settled,” said Waßmuth. “Working with the players, coaches and staff is enormous fun. We’ve made great progress this season and I’m sure we’re far from reaching the end of our journey. I’m highly motivated to continue to play my part in helping the team achieve its objectives in the future.”

“Underlined her commitment”

“Tabea has far exceeded the expectations we had of her when she signed,” added Ralf Kellermann, VfL Women’s sporting director. “Her development over the past few months has been impressive, as her goal tally shows. She has also proven her qualities on the European stage with her 10 Champions League goals. We’re all the happier that she has underlined her commitment to VfL with her early contract extension.”
