Oberdorf to leave VfL Women

Release clause triggered, midfielder off at end of season.

Lena Oberdorf has decided to leave the She-Wolves this summer and will be joining Bayern Munich ahead of the 2024/25 season. The 22-year-old German international, who joined the club in summer 2020 from SGS Essen, has triggered a release clause written into her contract.

Four titles with the She-Wolves

The defensive midfielder has made 63 appearances to date for the Green-and-Whites in the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga,14 more in the DFB Cup and 21 in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. During her time with the club, she has picked up a winner’s medal in the Bundesliga and three more in the cup.

She has also appeared in two Champions League finals with VfL – the first at the end of the COVID-delayed 2019/20 season and the second last year.
