Comfortable win

VfL Women cruised to a 5-0 victory over bottom club Potsdam.

Die Frauen vom VfL Wolfsburg jubeln nach einem Tor.

There was to be no upset in Friday’s meeting between the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga’s top and bottom sides, with VfL Wolfsburg cruising to a 5-0 win over 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam in front of 2,667 fans at the AOK Stadion. Felicitas Rauch, Lena Lattwein, Alexandra Popp (x2) and Dominique Janssen scored for the She-Wolves, thereby piling the pressure back on closest pursuers Bayern Munich. The Bavarians can return to within two points of VfL with victory over 1. FC Köln on Saturday.

Before taking on Bayern in next weekend’s top-of-the-table meeting, the She-Wolves face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final first leg on Wednesday 22 March (kick-off 21:00 CET).

Reaction

Tommy Stroot: “It was 5-0 in the end but we could have won by a greater margin. Even so, it was a successful game in which we had a lot of control and good situations from the flanks. Obviously, the win is overshadowed by Obi's potential injury. I can’t say any more just now, apart from the fact that we’ll have a diagnosis at the weekend."
