No lead at halfway stage for VfL

The She-Wolves were beaten 1-0 by fellow high-flyers Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Matchday 11.

VfL Wolfsburg Women missed out on leading the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga’s at the halfway point of the season after losing 1-0 to Bayer 04 Leverkusen, who leapfrogged the She-Wolves in the table. Cornelia Kramer scored the only goal of the game for the visitors in the 47th minute.

VfL begin the second half of their league campaign in a little over a week, when they visit SV Werder Bremen on Saturday 14 December (kick-off 14:00 CET). First up for Tommy Stroot’s charges, however, is a crucial UEFA Women’s Champions League clash against AS Roma at the AOK Stadion on Wednesday 11 December (18:45 CET).

Goal

  • 1-0 Kramer (47’): The Green-and-Whites fail to clear their lines and the visitors send a looping ball back into the danger area. Kathy Hendrich misjudges the flight of the ball and Kramer pounces, beating Merle Frohms with an unstoppable shot into the far corner from eight metres.

Tommy Stroot: “We started the game well but couldn’t make the most of that period because we weren’t dangerous enough offensively, as was the case throughout the 90 minutes. Considering the chances Leverkusen had, it’s a fair result.”
