There’s simply no beating VfL Wolfsburg Women in the DFB Cup – not even for their biggest rivals, who once again came unstuck against the eight-time winners. The She-Wolves beat Bayern Munich 3-1 in the semi-final to seal their place in the final in Cologne on Saturday 28 May (kick-off 16:45 CEST), where they’ll be going for their ninth cup crown. They’ll face the winners of tomorrow’s meeting between Bayer 04 Leverkusen and 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam.
VfL’s goals at the FC Bayern Campus came from a Jill Roord brace and Tabea Waßmuth, as the Green-and-Whites followed up their 6-0 victory in the battle of the top two teams in German football in the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga two weeks ago, and registered their 39th consecutive win in the cup.
That’s a record, as is the attendance that’s expected for Wolfsburg’s UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final first leg against FC Barcelona at the famous Camp Nou next Friday, 22 April (kick-off 18:45 CEST).
