VfL Wolfsburg striker Daniel Ginczek is set to remain on the sidelines. The 28-year-old, who has been unable to train since the start of pre-season on 30 June due to injury, will have a minor operation on his back on Friday after undergoing a series of tests earlier this week.
“Taking into account all the results and advice of the specialists, we all came to the conclusion that an operation is unavoidable,” said VfL managing director Jörg Schmadtke. “We wish Daniel all the best for the operation and a smooth recovery.”
