Lynn Wilms will join the She-Wolves from FC Twente on a free transfer this summer, after the Dutch international signed a contract tying her to the six-time German champions through to 30 June 2024. The 20-year-old defender is seen as one of her country’s brightest young talents, and she joins the ranks of VfL new recruits alongside Joelle Smits, Lena Lattwein, Tabea Waßmuth and Sandra Starke.
Ten international caps
The ten-time international won the Dutch league with Twente in 2019 under Tommy Stroot, who is replacing Stephan Lerch as VfL’s head coach for the new season. “I’m so happy and really looking forward to taking this next big step in the coming summer,” said Wilms. “VfL Wolfsburg is one of the biggest clubs in all of women’s football and they’re always in the running for every competition that they’re involved in. I obviously want to win as many titles with VfL as I can, in particular the Champions League which is a main aim of mine. My focus in the coming weeks will still be with FC Twente, though. I’m very grateful that I have been able to mature as a player and as a person there.“
