LSK Kvinner FK in round of 16

The She-Wolves face Norwegian opposition next in the Champions League.

VfL Women have been drawn alongside Norwegian club LSK Kvinner FK in the UEFA Women’s Champions League round of 16. Stephan Lerch’s side will play at home in the first leg, which will take place on 3 or 4 March, followed by the return match a week later (10/11 March).

Serial champions in Norway

The club from Lillestrom have won the Norwegian league title seven times, most recently in 2019. That was the sixth year in a row in which they had claimed the crown and in each of those years – apart from 2017 – they also lifted the cup. Coach Hege Riise’s side saw off FC Minsk in the round of 32. The She-Wolves have a former LSK player in their ranks in Norway international Ingrid Engen, who moved to Germany in 2019.

“Will be a challenge”

Ralf Kellermann, VfL Women sporting director, said: “Playing against Ingrid Engen’s former club will be a challenge, as it always is against the top Scandinavian teams. But obviously we’ll go into the tie with the clear target of beating LSK and progressing to the quarter-finals.”
