A mere seventh months after she signed a contract last June tying her to the club until 2023, Lena Oberdorf has now committed her future to VfL Wolfsburg for a further season. Seen as one of the leading young talents of German women’s football, Oberdorf will now be with the six-time German champions through to 30 June 2024.
“Exceeded our already high expectations”
“It’s no secret that I feel really at home at VfL Wolfsburg,“ Oberdorf said. “Both my team-mates and the general environment around me have made it very easy to fit into the team, and so it was an easy decision to extend my contract already. My aim is to help shape the future of the club in the long term.”
“Lena has not merely met the already high expectations we had when we signed her – she’s exceeded them,” said Ralf Kellermann, sporting director of VfL Women. “She integrated herself into the team very quickly and showed that she deserves to be considered as one of the world’s biggest talents in women’s football. We’re therefore absolutely delighted that she has already agreed to extend her contract by another year, giving a clear indication that she feels at home with us. It’s a very positive sign for the future!“
