Kathrin Hendrich commits to VfL

The Germany international has signed an early contract extension.

With just days to go until the start of the new Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga campaign, VfL Wolfsburg Women have moved to secure the future of one of their key players. Kathrin Hendrich will remain with the She-Wolves for another season after extending her contract, which was due to expire in 2024, until 2025.

Since joining the club from FC Bayern Munich ahead of the 2020/21 campaign, the 31-year-old has appeared in 56 Bundesliga matches, 13 DFB Cup ties and 29 UEFA Women’s Champions League games. Her defensive qualities and consistent performances played a major role in helping VfL to successive DFB Cup triumphs in each of the last three years as well as the Bundesliga title in 2022.

“I’m grateful every day”

“There’s not a single reason for me to decide otherwise at the moment,” said Hendrich, who feels settled at VfL for a number of reasons. “I have everything I need in Wolfsburg. We have a wonderful team and loyal fans, while the backroom staff and the club as a whole give their utmost to ensure we can perform on the pitch. I’m grateful every day to be part of this club.”

“An absolute leader”

Ralf Kellermann, director of women’s football at VfL Wolfsburg, is delighted with Hendrich’s decision: “Kathy is an absolute leader with international experience at the highest level. Her enormous commitment levels, her desire to keep improving and her positive attitude on and off the pitch make her a role model within the squad.”
