VfL Wolfsburg have made Polish goalkeeper Kamil Grabara their first new signing for the 2024/25 season. The 24-year-old will join the club on a long-term contract from Danish champions and Champions League participants FC Copenhagen in July 2024. The two clubs have agreed not to disclose the transfer fee.

“A high-quality solution”

“We’re confident that, in Kamil Grabara, we’ve found a high-quality solution for the upcoming departure of Koen Casteels and are very pleased we’ve been able to reach an early agreement with the player and the club,” said VfL sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz. “Kamil has played a key role in FC Copenhagen’s successes over the past two years and has also delivered strong performances in Europe. We hope he’ll continue his impressive development this term and are pleased he’ll be part of our squad from next season onwards.”

“I’m looking forward to repaying the faith”

Kamil Grabara: “The manner in which VfL approached me convinced me very quickly that this is the right step for my career. That’s why it was an easy decision to move to Wolfsburg. I’m really looking forward to repaying the faith shown in me. Until that time comes, though, I’m going to give my all to have a good, successful season with FC Copenhagen and help my team achieve our aims.”

Liverpool youth graduate

Grabara, who spent time in Liverpool’s youth department, made his international debut for Poland in a UEFA Nations League game against Wales in 2022. He helped Copenhagen return to the Champions League in 2023/24, having made his first appearances in the competition last season. He has made 88 appearances for the club since 2021, keeping 40 clean sheets.
