Justine Kielland moving to VfL Women

Norwegian to bring fresh blood to the midfield

Midfielder Justine Kielland has moved to the She-Wolves with immediate effect, leaving Norwegian top-flight side SK Brann Bergen and signing a contract with Wolfsburg which will run until 30 June 2027.

Champions League experience

VfL Women’s new No.18 hails from Baerum in Norway. She played her youth football with Fossum IF, before moving to Stabaek Fotball, where she made her Norwegian top-flight debut in August 2018. After playing 80 times for the club, she moved in summer 2023 to SK Brann, making 23 appearances for them in the league and three more in the cup. As recently as last Saturday, Kielland scored a goal and set up another in Bergen’s 5-1 win over Lyn Fotball.

The Norwegian club are also coming off a highly successful UEFA Women’s Champions League season, with the team making it all the way through to the quarter-finals before coming up short against defending champions Barcelona. Kielland featured in all 12 Champions League matches, scoring four goals. As such, it was only logical that she would go on to make her debut for the Norwegian national side, featuring in the 5-0 win over Croatia in the UEFA Women’s Nations League relegation match on 27 February.

“The perfect match”

“I’m really looking forward to being part of this club, meeting the team and the fans and kicking this journey off,” said Kielland. “Wolfsburg is one of the best clubs in the world and the discussions I had with Ralf Kellermann were excellent. VfL therefore seemed like the perfect match for me to achieve my sporting goals.”

“Will adapt quickly to the standard”

“Justine had a great season in the Champions League with Brann Bergen,” said Ralf Kellermann, director of women’s football at VfL Wolfsburg. “She can play as a six or an eight and is incredibly proficient when it comes to build-up play. We’re really confident that she will adapt quickly to the standard of the Women’s Bundesliga and really strengthen our central midfield.”
