VfL Wolfsburg Women faced a high hurdle on Matchday 13 of the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga – but in the end it was not too high. The reigning double winners earned a 1-0 victory at home to Hoffenheim, ending the visitors’ seven-match winning run and increasing the gap to their closest challengers to nine points. In the title race, however, the picture is unchanged: the second-placed She-Wolves remain five points behind leaders FC Bayern Munich, who thrashed SV Werder Bremen 7-0.
It was Svenja Huth who scored the only goal of the game in frosty conditions at the AOK Stadion. With an international break now coming up, VfL Women are next in action at the start of March in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, before resuming their league campaign with a trip to SV Meppen on Sunday 7 March (kick-off 14:00 CET).
“Did the dirty work”

That’s exactly what we wanted again today – and the team pulled it off brilliantly. In the end, the win was deserved because of the second half. The first half was very even. Credit to my team, who didn’t just rely on their technical quality but also did the dirty work.”
