Traditional pre-season friendly

VfL to play Beck's XI in Gifhorn.

The Wolves will play their first pre-season friendly just a few days after the start of training. On Saturday 12 July, the Green-and-Whites will take on a Beck’s XI in the traditional summer fixture, with this year’s meeting set to be played in Gifhorn.

Amateurs versus professionals

The Beck’s XI is made up of local amateur footballers who are selected by readers of the AZ/WAZ newspapers specially for this match. “This match has a special significance for us,” commented VfL sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz. “It not only kicks off pre-season, but is also an opportunity to come into contact with our fans and the region in a very personal way. That closeness to fans is very important to us, and we’re pleased that we can stage this match in Gifhorn – a place that’s a piece of home for many Wolves fans.
