VfL Wolfsburg must make do without Patrick Wimmer until further notice: the winger tore the syndesmosis ligament in his right ankle during last Saturday’s away match at Augsburg and requires an operation.
The 22-year-old has made seven appearances to date this season (six in the Bundesliga and one in the DFB Cup). Wimmer was not in the squad for Tuesday’s 1-0 win over holders RB Leipzig in the second round of the Cup.
