To mark the 50th anniversary of the Golf, the Wolves and She-Wolves are swapping the logo of the club’s main sponsor for the lettering of the iconic Volkswagen model on the front of their shirts. The men’s team will wear their ‘new’ tops for the first time on Monday 19 August (18:00 CEST), when they travel to TuS Koblenz in the first round of the DFB Cup. The women’s team will get their turn in the Supercup against FC Bayern Munich on Sunday 25 August (18:15 CEST).
“Golf stands for reliability and consistency”
Wolves goalkeeper Kamil Grabara, who is set to make his competitive debut for the club in Koblenz, is already looking forward to putting on the shirt: “I’ve known about the Golf since I was a kid,” he said. “It stands for reliability and consistency. Being able to represent the Golf in my very first competitive match shows the bond that we as players have with our colleagues at Volkswagen.”
Grabara and his team-mates will also wear the jersey in their first two Bundesliga games of the season – at home to Bayern and away to Holstein Kiel. The She-Wolves, meanwhile, will don the shirt for the second time in their opening game of the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga, against SV Werder Bremen at the AOK Stadion.
