On Tuesday, the news channel ntv, DUP Unternehmer and the German Institute for Service Quality honoured projects from all sectors of the economy that implement sustainability in an exemplary manner. A total of 342 companies and their projects were nominated, and 70 convinced the high-calibre jury, including the joint initiative ‘From the Field to the Fan Shop’. In addition to VfL Wolfsburg, this initiative includes eight other football clubs from the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2, who are working together to promote sustainability in the area of fan merchandise.
Support for Indian farmers
Over the next two years, ‘From the Field to the Fan Shop’ will support 450 small farmers in India in switching to organic cotton cultivation. The award-winning project is being implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in collaboration with local partners. Dirk Zelonczewski, head of merchandising at VfL Wolfsburg, visited the project in January 2023.
