Six-time Germany international Chantal Hagel will join the She-Wolves on a free transfer this summer. The 24-year-old midfielder, who currently plays for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, has signed a contract until 30 June 2026.

Hagel has racked up 68 FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga appearances since making her professional debut in August 2019, as well as 10 UEFA Women’s Champions League outings and eight DFB Cup appearances. She made her debut for the Germany national team in the Arnold Clark Cup in February 2022.

“A positive feeling”

“I’m very much looking forward to playing for VfL Wolfsburg from the summer,” Hagel said. “An exciting challenge is in store for me at one of Europe’s top women’s football teams. The talks with Ralf Kellermann as well as Tommy Stroot and his coaching team left me with a positive feeling straight away. After seven years at Hoffenheim, during which I was able to improve as an athlete and as a person, I see next season’s move as the next step in my career.”

“Great potential”

Ralf Kellermann, VfL Women sporting director: “Chantal’s improvement has been impressive, particularly in the last couple of years. We’re totally convinced of her qualities as a versatile midfielder and have been keeping an eye on her for some time. We’re looking forward to getting a player who already has experience of playing in continental competition and who possesses great potential to strengthen our team.”
