VfL Wolfsburg shared the spoils yet again on Sunday afternoon, drawing 2-2 at home to TSG Hoffenheim in a result that extends both sides’ winless run. Nico Kovac’s team are now without a victory in five matches, while Hoffenheim have not won in six.
Wolves fight back twice: For the first time this season, Kovac’s charges managed to restore parity twice in the same game – although they were unable to complete the turnaround.
Substitute at the double: A Wolves substitute made the scoresheet for the first time in 2023/24, scoring not once but twice. Lovro Majer cancelled out the visitors’ opener moments after entering the fray (58’) before netting his and Wolfsburg’s second of the game 20 minutes from time.
Milestone and debut: Mattias Svanberg made his 50th Bundesliga appearance on Sunday. The 25-year-old Swede, who has registered five league goals and ten assists for the Wolves to date, was a half-time substitute against Hoffenheim and played a key role in VfL’s first equaliser. Winter signing Kevin Behrens claimed the assist, having been thrust straight into the starting line-up for his full Wolves debut. French centre-back Maxence Lacroix, meanwhile, was made to wait for his 100th league appearance for the club after missing the game through illness.
