Fenna Kalma will join VfL Wolfsburg from FC Twente ahead of the new season.

Fenna Kalma, Neuzugang des VfL Wolfsburg, hält mit Ralf Kellermann ein VfL Trikot hoch.

VfL Women’s attacking department is set to welcome a new addition from the Netherlands, with Fenna Kalma moving to the ten-time DFB Cup winners on a free transfer from FC Twente this summer. The 23-year-old striker has put pen to paper on a contract with VfL Wolfsburg until 30 June 2026.

Kalma, whose full first name is Feikje Anna, has been the top goalscorer in the Dutch Eredivisie in each of the last two seasons, also winning the title with Twente in both campaigns – in 2020/21 under her future coach Tommy Stroot. Kalma, who has made five appearances for the Dutch national team since her debut in September 2022, joined Twente from SC Heerenveen in 2017. She becomes VfL’s seventh new signing for next season after Chantal Hagel, Anneke Borbec, Lisa Schmitz, Vivien Endemann, Riola Xhemaili and Camilla Küver.

“Next step at a top club”

“I’m extremely happy to sign for VfL Wolfsburg,” said Kalma. “It’s a great opportunity and honour to be able to take the next step in my career at such a top club, who are in the Champions League final. My objective is to help VfL reach their goals with my abilities and also develop personally.”

“Different challenge”

Ralf Kellermann, director of women’s football at VfL Wolfsburg, said: “As one of the best strikers in the Dutch league, Fenna has been on the radar of numerous European clubs for a long time. That makes us all the happier that she’s chosen us. The Women’s Bundesliga will be a different challenge to the Eredivisie for her, but she’s got the best environment here to be able to rise to that challenge. The fact she’s played under Tommy Stroot before at FC Twente and also knows our Dutch players from the national team will help her to acclimatise as quickly as possible.”
