VfL’s preparations for their penultimate home game of the season against SC Freiburg have begun without Mattias Svanberg and Bennit Bröger. Swedish midfielder Svanberg, who came off the bench in the 63rd minute of the 2-2 draw at Mainz before being forced off through injury shortly before the end, has hurt a muscle at the back of his knee and will miss Saturday’s game. Eighteen-year-old midfielder Bröger, meanwhile, will be sidelined until further notice after undergoing surgery on the serious knee injury he sustained during a recent training session with the first team. The youngster was last included in Ralph Hasenhüttl’s matchday squad at FC Augsburg last month.
