Caitlin Dijkstra is now officially a VfL Wolfsburg player after spending last season on loan at Twente, but the Dutch defender will have to wait a little while to make her debut for the Green-and-Whites. Dijkstra is set to undergo ankle surgery in Hanover at the end of July, ruling her out for several months.
The 25-year-old suffered the injury back in May and was initially offered rest and rehabilitation, but she has continued to struggle and after undergoing further tests, it has been decided that surgery is the only way to get Dijkstra back playing again.
